The color circle

on January 10, 2023

When we look at the circle and mix the discontinuous colors together, we get the color brown in every situation. But which pigment do you use with which skin color? In this blog we will elaborate on this subject.
Let's start at the beginning.

Primary colors:

  • Yellow / blue / red.

These pigments cannot be made by mixing. Primary colors are the main colors of all existing pigments.

Secondary colors:

  • Yellow + blue = green
  • Blue + Red = Violet
  • Red + yellow = orange

Complementary colors:

These to colour that are opposite each other in the color circle.

Tertiary colors:

The tertiary colors are often dark. That is because the dark shades, which were created after the first mix of primary, dominate when mixing.
Examples of tertiary colors are: dark orange, brown tones, blue-green, dark purple and olive green.

Help! Eyebrows turn red!

How do you correct red eyebrows with PMU?

If the permanent makeup is too deep or too superficial, it can turn red. Usually the small molecules are the culprit, these dissolve earlier than the large molecules of the red pigment. Normally you use blue and yellow to brown red. This is of course not an option in the face.

Use an olive -colored pigment for red eyebrows. There is a green glow in this. If you mix blue and yellow you also get the color green. There are enough green pigments in the olive pigment to correct red.

Red and green are opposites and make the color brown, this is a tertiary color.
In the hairdressing profession we sometimes have to deal with blond hair that turns green after a dive in the chlorine water. Use the color red (for example ketchup) let this withdraw and the green is gone. If you are going to paint blond hair brown, this must be pigmented with red in advance. If you don't do this, the hair will be after a 1one Paint treatment and a few times washing greenish in color.

Purple / blue eyebrows

How do you correct purple / blue eyebrows with PMU?

There is a chance that work was done too deeply during the treatment and/or the customer has bled too much. When a cool pigment has been worked and this is too deeply pigmented or blood is involved, the pigment color will be able to mutate.

When the eyebrows become blue / gray, use a warm correction color with orange / red to restore the color. If the eyebrows become purple, use a color correction pigment with a lot of yellow in it to correct it.

Blue is the complementary color of orange (red - yellow)

When you add blue to orange you get a neutral damped brown variation. If there is too much yellow in the skin, the pigment can get an olive -green appearance, if the pigment comes into contact with blood, it can become purple. In this way a tertiary color forms again.

Purple and yellow are finally over

Mix this on the right ratio and you get a yellowish brown color.
Mix this on the wrong ratio and the pigment will grab purple gray.
The colors blue and red (hot and cold) provide the color purple in the skin.

Correction colors

Working with color correction pigments such as yellow and red can alleviate a lot of suffering.

On the warmer skin types we work with a pigment that has an orange undertone. The pigments for the cooler skin types nowadays contain a more yellow undertone so that they fade more nicer in the skin.

I hope that with my blog you have been helped with finding the right pigments with the right skin types. What you should pay attention to and how you can prevent problems with different colors.
